Evangelism in the Local Church
by Paul Brennan and Dave Jensen
Evangelism in the Local Church
Success in evangelism is the making of disciple-making disciples within disciple-making churches.
While there is no shortage of books on personal evangelism and apologetics, far less attention has been given to the role of the local church in evangelism. The conviction that the local church is God’s chosen home for evangelism underpins this book.
Drawing on years of hard-won ministry experience, the authors show how ordinary local churches can, under the sovereignty of God, see more people become Christians and involve more Christians in evangelism.
Grounded in Scripture and shaped by life in real churches, Evangelism in the Local Church offers realistic encouragement and practical wisdom for leaders who long to see their churches grow through the gospel.

About the Authors
Paul Brennan has been a Minister at The Tron Church, Glasgow, Scotland since 2016 and has been responsible for evangelism in the church since 2019. He is married to Stephanie and has four children.
Dave Jensen works as a pastor and evangelist in Sydney. Prior to working in ministry, he was in the Australian Army for the best part of a decade which is where someone told him the truth about Jesus and he became a Christian.
“‘Church leaders everywhere would do well to read this book, have their hearts touched and then begin to more clearly focus their energies on genuinely evangelising the many people around them who need Christ.”
“A wonderful example of practical theology that will help every church, or at least those with the courage to admit that we are not doing as well as we should, to be more effective in evangelism. My prayer is that every pastor reads this, but more than that, that they read it with the humility needed to make changes to more effectively reach people with the Gospel.’”
“‘This book is a compendium of Gospel ministry know-how. I found it by turns soothing and stinging, and I needed both. The combination of practical teaching and personal testimony gave me the sense that Paul and Dave evidently knew my ministry situation. They have been lost in the Gospel ministry maze themselves, and recently enough that I trust the drone-cam view they offer of the route from fruitless effort to effective evangelism for local churches in this moment. I love how robustly theological and genuinely practical this book is. I found it to be as strikingly perceptive as it is warmly encouraging. I can’t wait to read it with our elders and put it into practice increasingly.’”
“Anchored in solid theology, and very, very practical, their work is filled with passion, urgency, and insight. Reading it will be good for your soul and good for the cause of the Gospel in your local church. I strongly encourage you to not only read it, but read it with a view to working hard to put it into practice. If that happens I think we can have great confidence that God will graciously save many more people from hell itself to be joined with the saints in heaven forever. What a wonderfully noble task and one worthy of our every effort.’”
