Kelvingrove Church School

The Tron Church is delighted to announce plans to start a new independent school launching in August 2027. This will be distinct from the Melville-Knox family of schools.

Our prayer is to establish a school that offers an excellent education in a Christian environment, equipping young people to grow to maturity in Christ.

In recent years the Tron Leadership Team (TLT) has become increasingly convinced of the value of, and need for, Christian school education. We have had a warm and fruitful partnership with Melville-Knox school to which we have provided the use of our Kelvingrove building since 2023. We want to express great thankfulness to the Melville-Knox team and desire to see its ongoing ministry flourish. 

As the school at Kelvingrove has grown, however, it has become increasingly clear that the best way for us to develop and sustain Christian education for The Tron Church families, as well as others that have chosen this means of education, is for The Tron Church to establish and fully support its own educational provision which we trust will fully reflect our church’s gospel focus and ethos.

We are therefore pleased to announce the Kelvingrove Church School (KCS) which we plan will provide education from P1 through to S2 (with a desire to provide further secondary education in time).

We are grateful for the partnership we have enjoyed with Melville-Knox over the past several years, and we will work to maintain helpful ongoing relations with them. We want to see and support the cause of solid Christian education in our city and nation.

We look forward to following in the footsteps of many churches from the past who established schools for their own families and for the benefit of the wider community. This was the norm in Scotland for centuries but has now been almost completely lost, unlike south of the border where church schools are abundant.

The TLT anticipates the process taking a year. For the current academic year, there is no change to existing arrangements. After the new school launches Melville-Knox will continue as an independent school. The Kelvingrove Church School will operate out of The Tron Church’s Kelvingrove building in the West End.

Having seen The Tron Church children benefit so greatly from a Christian education, we’re excited to commit further to it.
